Brothers suspected of murdering wealthy mother deny charges, dissatisfied with property division (South Korea)

Two brothers accused of assaulting and killing their wealthy mother in her 90s after being dissatisfied with the division of her assets have denied the charges.
According to the Korean legal community on the 4th, the Seoul Central District Court indicted him on charges of causing death by injury to a parent on the 3rd.
The first hearing was held for the brothers, defendants A and B, who are both accused of sexual assault. The lawyer for defendant A's brothers said, "There is no fact that they conspired to intentionally injure their mother," and "There was no intention to do anything in relation to the disposal of their assets."
"The conflict between the two parents caused heated emotions, and the mother became angry, so the brother had to stop her," he said. "The mother has a tendency to bruise easily, and she was given a drug called 'warfarin'.
"Because he had been taking the drug for a long period of time, he had a side effect of easily developing bruises and spreading them," he said. "The bruises that occurred during the process of restraining his mother can be explained, but the fact that his mother died as a result is a separate issue."
The lawyer also stated, "There is absolutely no evidence that Defendant A sympathized with the mother in the process of restraining her."
On April 7th of this year, defendants A and others assaulted the mother, Ms. C, at her residence, after she refused to share in the assets she had donated to another child.
The defendants were on trial for assaulting a woman and causing her death. The defendants were unhappy that their mother, who owned assets worth tens of billions of won (approximately several billion yen), had given them less than their other siblings.
The prosecution believes that the defendant brothers were dissatisfied with the division of assets last year and emotionally abused the defendant, including verbal abuse and threats, three times.
The prosecution plans to request witnesses and neighbors to testify. The next trial for defendants A and others will be held on the 16th.
