LG Electronics to invest 50 billion won to establish air conditioning research center (Korea)
LG Electronics has partnered with Changwon National University to establish a research center in order to strengthen its R&D in the air conditioning field.
The company will invest approximately 50 billion won (approximately 5.34 billion yen) to build a 13,000-pyeong research center within Changwon National University.
The center, which is scheduled to be completed in the first half of the year, will research next-generation air conditioning solutions, from air conditioners to heat pumps, chillers and cooling solutions for data centers.
LG Electronics is expanding its thermal management solutions for AI (artificial intelligence) data centers, such as chillers and CDUs (coolant distribution units), to help grow its HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) business.
He is currently being trained as a long-term driver, and has plans to further advance core technologies for air conditioning products, particularly compressors, motors, pumps, heat exchangers, and inverters.
LG Electronics will install a facility at the research center that will enable simultaneous testing of extremely high and low temperatures, a first for an air conditioning research facility in Korea.
The plan is to focus on component research and platform development by building infrastructure and clusters for specialized research into automotive applications.
In addition, the company has established an HVAC research center, HVAC Accelerator, located within its Changwon Smart Park factory.
The Academy will also expand and relocate to a facility equipped with cutting-edge technology infrastructure.
