Chairperson of the Legislation and Judicial Affairs Committee, Choo Mi-ae, ”Acting like a master of lies”... Criticizing prosecutors who said they had no recollection of losing the official seal of office (South Korea)
On the 6th, the ruling Democratic Party continued to criticize the prosecution for the loss of the seal of the monk Kongjin, highlighting the correctness of its self-proclaimed "prosecution reform."
Choo Mi-ae, chairperson of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the Democratic Party, posted on her blog on the same day, "Disposal of the paper wrapping of official seals.
"This case appears to be a collective, organized crime by the prosecution to cover up other major crimes and the higher-ups. We cannot entrust the investigation to such an organization," he said.
The day before, Chairman Choo explained that prosecutors had prepared a kind of anticipated answer at the National Assembly's Prosecution Reform Legislation Hearing.
He also pointed out, "It appears that he is repeatedly giving false answers while trying to gauge the reaction of the organization. He is trying to make excuses by saying it was a mistake made by an investigator with little experience, but someone with such a short history is acting like a master liar when speaking to members of parliament."
Prior to this, prosecutors' investigators responded to questions about the circumstances surrounding the loss at a hearing the previous day by saying, "I don't remember" and "I didn't know," drawing criticism from Democratic lawmakers.
Democratic Party floor spokesperson Baek Seung-jo also said at the briefing, "If the prosecution headquarters protects the Yoon Seok-yeol and Kim Gun-hee administrations,
If the incident was systematically covered up and evidence deliberately destroyed in order to prevent this, this is clearly an act of subverting the nation's foundations."
"The official envelope sash clearly shows the source and flow of Kongjin's cash," said White, the spokesman for the National Assembly.
"Although this is a crucial clue that could reveal the truth, the prosecution has only offered the excuse that they 'don't remember,' and has invited criticism that they are destroying evidence and cutting off the case," he pointed out.
He also stated, "We urge a prompt and thorough investigation into the prosecution's sloppy response and suspicions of deliberate destruction of evidence."
