Cho Kuk, the president of the Innovation Policy Institute of the Fatherland Reform Party, apologized for the sexual harassment incident within the party, saying, "As one of the founding members of the party and its former chairman, I would like to offer my apologies."

"I was in no position to say anything about party affairs," he said. "After he was released, various schedules were decided immediately, and I wonder what would have happened if I had met and communicated with him a little earlier in the process.
I was planning to contact him and meet him after our scheduled date, so I'm really sorry that this happened before we could meet."
He also said, "Regardless of my current party position, there were no shortcomings in the past handling of the matter.
I will also do my best to investigate whether this incident occurred and take measures to prevent a recurrence." Prior to this, Kang Mi-sook, a lawyer who represented the victim in the case, wrote to Director Cho on Facebook the day before.
"I would like to ask what Cho Kuk was able to do while in prison, and what authority he has as a mere research institute director even after his release, but whether we like it or not, the Fatherland Reform Party is Cho Kuk's party," he said.
