Kang Mina will withdraw from the group “I.O.I” 10th anniversary reunion project.

StoryJCompany, the agency representing actress Kang Mina (formerly of the group “gugudan”), stated on the 12th, “The period under discussion for the ‘I.O.I’ reunion activities overlaps with the filming schedule for her next drama and the promotional period for a drama scheduled to air soon, causing her distress.”

　They added, “We recognize the long wait and high expectations from fans. After extensive discussions with the artist and thorough deliberation, we have concluded it would be difficult for her to participate in this project, respecting her wish to focus on acting activities.”

The reunion project commemorating the 10th anniversary of the group I.O.I is scheduled for next year.

　I.O.I was a project group formed by members selected through Mnet's audition program PRODUCE 101: Jung Somi, Kim Sejeong, Choi Yujin, Kim Chungha, Kim Sohye, Joo Kyungkyung, Jung Chaeyoung, Kim Dayoung, Kang Mina, Im Nayoung, and Yoo Yeonjeong.

　They debuted in May 2016 and disbanded in January 2017 after eight months of official activities.

　While a reunion was pursued in 2019, it fell through. Now, they have gathered their focus on reuniting next year to commemorate their 10th debut anniversary.

However, Kang Mina, who transitioned to acting and is actively working, will be unable to participate due to scheduling conflicts.

Meanwhile, Kang Mina has been cast in the Netflix series 'Wish Your Death' and the new tvN drama 'Tomorrow, I'm Going to Work!'.
