Former Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha becomes South Korea's first female ambassador to the US

On the 1st, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had appointed Kang Kyung-wha, president and CEO of the Asia Society of America, who served as foreign minister under the Moon Jae-in administration, as its ambassador to the United States.
Ambassador Kang served as the first female foreign minister in the Moon administration in June 2017, after previously serving as a minister at the Permanent Mission of South Korea to the United Nations and a special policy advisor to the UN Secretary-General.
