韓国人観光客に人気の「ベトナム」…「暴行・傷害」被害が “最多”
Vietnam, popular among Korean tourists, has the highest number of assault and injury cases
Vietnam, a popular tourist destination for South Koreans, has been found to be the country where overseas South Koreans have been the victims of assault, injury, and traffic accidents over the past three years.
Rep. Yoon Hu-duk of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea obtained the document from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the "Current Status of Incidents and Accidents of Overseas Koreans," last year, 100,000 Koreans were victims of various incidents and accidents overseas.
The total number of deaths reached 17,283. The country with the most victims was Japan (2,348), followed by Vietnam (1,767), the United States (1,193), China (1,133), and Italy (102).
Among these, Vietnam had the most victims of "assault and injury." It will remain in first place for three consecutive years, with 118 in 2022, 133 in 2023, and 119 in 2024.
Furthermore, of the 591 overseas Koreans who were victims of assault or injury worldwide last year, approximately 20% occurred in Vietnam.
Vietnam also had the highest number of traffic accident victims, with the number of deaths expected to increase from 45 in 2022 to 12 in 2023.
Vietnam is a popular tourist destination for Koreans, with approximately 4.5 million Koreans visiting the country last year.
As the number of Korean tourists increases, the risk of being exposed to incidents and accidents also increases. Meanwhile, the types of damage vary by country. Japan had the highest number of "lost" victims, with 1,805, followed by China.
The most notable was "fraud" with 100 cases. The most common type of theft was reported in the US and Europe, with thefts occurring in Italy, Spain, and France accounting for 10% of the total number of overseas Koreans worldwide.
This accounted for 60.7% of thefts in Japan.
