NCT former member TAEIL's appeal dismissed... 3 years and 6 months in prison sentence upheld

The appeal of former member TAEIL of the group "NCT," who is accused of special quasi-rape, has been rejected. On the 17th, the Seoul High Court dismissed the appeal of TAEIL, who was indicted on charges of special quasi-rape under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.
The court also sentenced him to three years and six months in prison, the same as the trial court. The two accomplices were also sentenced to three years and six months in prison each. In addition, the court ordered him to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and a training course for children, adolescents, and people with disabilities.
The court also ordered a five-year ban on employment at the organization. The court did not accept the defendant's argument that the fact that he had confessed to the crime should be reflected in the sentence mitigation.
Prior to this, TAEIL and his associates were suspected of sexually assaulting a drunk Chinese female tourist, Ms. A, together with two acquaintances, at around 4 a.m. on June 13th of last year.
Taeil, who had been on trial without detention, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison in the first trial in July and was placed under legal detention. The court said, "The perpetrators took advantage of the victim's intoxicated state and incapable of resisting.
"The crime is extremely heinous, as he used the same device to commit sexual assaults one after the other," he said, adding, "We have decided to issue an arrest warrant as we believe there is a risk that he will flee if he is sentenced to prison."
Meanwhile, Taeil, who debuted with NCT U in 2016 and worked as the main vocalist for NCT 127, will be forced to resign from the group in October 2024 due to this incident.
He left the group NCT and terminated his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment.
