Actor Ha Jung Woo has received the LEAFF Honorary Award at the 10th London East Asian Film Festival (LEAFF).

On the 24th, his agency, Workhouse Company, announced, "Ha Jung-woo has received the LEAFF Honorary Award for his film 'The People Upstairs'."

The 10th London East Asia Film Festival, which opened on the 23rd (local time), is a leading Asian film festival introducing Korean and Asian cinema across Europe. It is an event that draws numerous film industry professionals and European audiences each year. At this year's festival, Ha Jung Woo received the LEAFF Honorary Award, a prize recognising lifetime achievement, for his fourth directorial work and starring role in 'The People Upstairs'. The film was praised as "a work perfectly infused with Ha Jung Woo's sensibility and intuition", earning him enthusiastic applause from numerous local film professionals.

The LEAFF Honorary Award is presented to individuals who have contributed to elevating the status of Asian cinema. Previous recipients include director Chung Chi-yung, actors Simon Yam, Louis Koo, and Lee Jung-jae – all leading figures in Asian cinema.

The People Upstairs depicts an unpredictable story unfolding when a couple from upstairs (Ha Jung-woo & Lee Ha-ni) and a couple from downstairs (Gong Hyo-jin & Kim Dong-wook), brought together by a noise dispute, share a meal one evening. It is scheduled for release in early December.
