The film will be released nationwide from Friday, October 31, 2013 at Cine Libre Ikebukuro and other theaters. New stills and an interview with the director have now been released!
The parallel world film "At That Time,
The world of three "what ifs" about me, who couldn't express my love. " will be released in Japan. A man who is filled with the frustration of his youth imagines, "If only I could go back to that time..."
"But if only I had confessed my love..." Everyone has thought about the other path they "didn't choose" at a crossroads in life at least once. What kind of life would they be living now if they had made a different choice?
This is a "what if" parallel world that we would like to present to all those who live with feelings that are neither regret nor lingering feelings.
Baek Seung-bin has established himself as a leading director in the independent film world, having been invited to prestigious international film festivals such as the Berlin International Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival for his film "The Last Journey."
Inspired by William Maxwell's National Book Award-winning novel "So Long, See You Tomorrow,"
He wrote the script based on his own experiences as a teenager.
"Ebby" was made by a director who grew up in America, and "Ebby" was made by a director who grew up in Daegu, South Korea.
What if? Each person thinks about the concept of parallel worlds. The director and screenwriter of this film is Baek Seung-bin, a former member of the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA).
With his film "Member of the Ceremony" officially invited to the 59th Berlin International Film Festival, he is recognized both at home and abroad as a spirited director representing the Korean independent film industry.
An interview with Ning Bin has arrived. Q. What is the appeal of this film? I know this, but... a film director I know saw this film and said, "The subject is parallel.
Even though it is set in a parallel world, has there ever been a Korean film with such a narrative style? Even though it depicts the same parallel world, the director, who spent his teenage years in America,
"You make films like 'At Once,' but you spent your teenage years in Daegu, the most conservative place in Korea, so this is how you think about parallel worlds."
When it premiered at the 2021 Seoul International Pride Film Festival, it was described as "a film of regret and remorse, and a warm and empathetic film born from the story of another self in a parallel world."
You mentioned that, but could you please elaborate a bit more? The story is about Dongjun, a teenage boy who hated the way he was and always dreamed of being someone else.
There is a person who is a failure and a friend who supports him. Then, a big event happens to that friend, and the regret of not being able to help creates a different destiny for each of them. In the movie, there are three destinies.
It is a story about a man who tries to fix his regrets somehow, and about a man who finally does for his friend what he couldn't do when he was younger.
Yes. Ultimately, the person at the bottom of your regrets is that person, and the end of this long journey is a journey to meet that person. Q.
What do you think about the concept of parallel worlds?
Kanghyun, the man Dongjun admires, always climbs up to high places. Even though it's dangerous. Dongjun asks, "Why is it dangerous?"
When I asked him, "What is your motivation for doing this?" he replied, "I'm rebelling against my boring life in my own way." Just as you can fall if you take a wrong step, you can reach another world if you reach out a little.
I think of it as a real world. It's not a place where you have to make a big decision, but rather a place where small choices can create a different path in life.
Please give a message to the audience. After watching the film, please think about what your life would be like if you had made different choices.
I want you to try and imagine it. I believe that such imagination will inspire you to live your life with more effort and love. I would be happy if the audience could feel the same.
In addition, four new stills have been released. The main character Dongjun is played by Shim Hee-sub from "Tomorrow's Girl," and Dongjun's childhood is played by Shim Hee-sub from "Escape" and "This Good-for-Nothing."
Hong XaBin from "The World," Shin Joo-hyub from "Deserted Island Diva," who plays Kang Hyang, the high school boy Dongjun longs for, and Ki Hyun from "Squid Game" and "Queen of Tears," who plays Dongjun's mother.
Mu Joo-ryeong. Cuts of each of the main cast members have been unveiled. This autumn's special masterpiece of a heartbreaking yet warm parallel world movie, "The Man Who Couldn't Express His Love at That Time,
