Jaejoong sheds tears at his mother's ”enlistment diary”... A filial son who fulfilled his mother's lifelong wish & ”family love” as he teaches his son how to make kimchi = ”New Product Launch - Convenience Store Restaurant”

Singer and actor Jaejoong felt his heart warm when he read the enlistment diary his mother had written for him during his military service.

　On the 31st of last month, KBS 2TV's 'New Product Launch ~ Convenience Store Restaurant' (hereafter 'Convenience Store Restaurant') aired an episode where the nation's beloved filial son, Jaejoong, was taught his mother's kimchi recipe. During this process, Jaejoong created and presented his mother with a poetry collection, the only one of its kind in the world.

　On the same day, Jaejoong created the one-of-a-kind "Yu Man-seung Poetry Collection" for his mother. Prior to this, Jaejoong had read the heartfelt words his mother had written alone, his eyes reddening. In response, he created the poetry collection, fulfilling his mother's wish. Jaejoong's father then took the surprise gift of the poetry collection and flowers, prepared by his filial son, to his wife. Upon discovering the true nature of the gift, Jaejoong's mother conveyed her deep emotion, saying, "I'm moved to tears."

Jaejoong watched his parents' figures from behind with a smile. At that moment, Jaejoong's mother and father suddenly kissed. His son Jaejoong, startled by this unexpected display of affection from his parents, blushed, provoking laughter.

　Then, Jaejoong's mother said, "I have something for our son. I wrote this when he went into the army. Everything I feel for you is written here," and took something out. It was the enlistment diary his mother had written, longing for her son, from the day he joined the military. Every word oozed a mother's love and worry for her son. There were also letters written by his sisters, thinking of Jaejoong.

　Jaejoong couldn't tear his eyes away from his mother's diary, saying, "It's so lonely. Why show me this now? After nine years..." Later, in the 'Convenience Store Restaurant' studio, Jaejoong confessed, "During my military service, I thought, 'Am I the only one missing my family?' But actually, I thought about them every single day. I scolded myself for only realising this so late."

　Later, Jaejoong learnt his mother's kimchi recipe. It was revealed that his mother, who had once run a restaurant in Gongju, had repaid a debt of 100 million won through the flavour of her handmade kimchi – her '100 Million Won Kimchi'. Jaejoong's mother, a true 'kimchi master', completed a visually mouth-watering kimchi using diverse secret techniques that drew spontaneous admiration. Lee Jong-hyun, watching the VCR, exclaimed, "I've never seen kimchi like this before," adding, "I absolutely must try to replicate it."

Tasting his mother's kimchi for the first time in ages, Jaejoong was astonished beyond belief. Jaejoong then revealed his signature 'JJ-flavoured' kimchi recipe – a 'magic that revives even dead kimchi' – honed during his frequent overseas stays. Even his sceptical mother was astonished after tasting her son's creation. Jaejoong also prepared a filial feast for his parents, featuring dishes perfectly complementing his mother's kimchi: lotus leaf rice and lotus leaf duck.
