Student who missed university exam searched for in Han River... safely found (South Korea)
In South Korea, on the 13th, the day of the 2026 academic year College Scholastic Ability Test (equivalent to Japan's Common University Admissions Test), one examinee did not show up at the exam venue, and a missing person report was issued.
The student was found safe after a police and fire investigation. According to the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul, he was scheduled to take an exam at Yeongil High School in Gangseo-gu around 9:10 a.m. on the same day.
Police immediately tracked the location and found the signal at the southern end of Mapo Bridge in Mapo-gu.
The Yeouido Police Station of the Mapo Police Station responded to the request for assistance and began searching for the missing students. The Mapo Fire Station also dispatched three vehicles and 14 personnel, as well as the Yeouido Water Rescue Team.
As authorities were searching along the Han River, police found the student in question in the city of Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, at around 10:10 a.m.
Police handed the student over to his guardian, who confirmed that he had "missed the exam for personal reasons."
