The event has been highly praised. American game maker Blizzard will be participating for the first time in 13 years. Other participants include Sega, Bandai Namco, Unity, and Google Play, a joint venture between Google and the US.
There were many highlights, including exhibits by companies such as Ray. Unity in particular introduced a wide variety of games, including 33 indie games.
In the past, G-Star had fewer participants from global game makers than other overseas game exhibitions, and it was considered a "local" exhibition in Korea.
However, the number of participating countries and their composition have become more diverse, and by 2025, participation by foreign media such as Japanese and Chinese media is expected to be prominent.
Game fans lined up from the night before to be among the first to try out the latest games.
The talk session, which featured world-famous creators such as game designer Yuji Horii, who worked on the "Dragon Quest" series, filled all 1,000 seats available.
G-Star organizers said of the event, "Until now, we have focused on expanding the scale, but now we are evolving to expand the storytelling."
