KBS has prepared a special memorial program in memory of the late actor Lee Soon-jae. On the 25th, KBS said, "We offer our deepest condolences to the late Lee Soon-jae and his family, who passed away early this morning (25th)."
He was 91 years old. He also said, "The deceased was the oldest active actor and made history in Korea with his passionate acting throughout his life.
"He appeared on the TV series "TBC 1st Generation" as an exclusive actor in 1965, before V became popular, and was active for about 60 years," he said in a statement.
He continued, "Especially at KBS, I've seen dramas like 'Storm and Cloud,' 'Ordinary People,' 'Men in the Bathroom,' and 'Mother.'
From the 1980s to 2024, he left a deep impression on viewers across generations with his heartfelt acting.
"In recognition of his passion for acting, which he showed at the age of 90 in 'Sori,' KBS selected him as the oldest grand prize winner in the history of the KBS Drama Awards."
The late Lee Seung-jae made his debut in 1956 with the play "Beyond the Horizon."
He has appeared in over 140 films, including "The True Life of Heojun," "The Way to Become a Royal Physician," "The Wild Days," and "High Kick with All My Power," marking a milestone in the history of Korean acting.
