The unregistered affair that started with musical actress Ok Ju Hyun (Fin.KL) has now spread to actor Kang Dong Woo Won and singer Song Gain.
On the 18th (today), a Korean media outlet reported that Kang Dong Woo-won, Song Gain, and Kim Wan-seo were operating their own private agency without registering as an art planning company.
According to the current Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, entertainers who operate as corporations or sole proprietors are not allowed to register as members of the pop culture industry.
They must register and operate as a cultural arts planning company, and violations of this rule will result in imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million won (approximately 2.2 million yen).
All business activities, including contracts, are considered illegal and may be subject to suspension of business if discovered. Kang DONG WOO's management office, AA Group, has announced that it will take measures to prevent the establishment of his personal agency.
The company explained that it had not been aware of the unregistered cases, and that it had recently begun the registration process.
In addition, SONG GAIN's personal agency, GAIN Dal Entertainment, has also been left out of the registration since its establishment in September last year.
SONG GAIN's side stated, "In the process of establishing his own agency, he signed an exclusive contract with JG STAR."
STAR is registered as a pop culture and arts planning company and was unable to recognize the problem.
