The fourth new film from MYSTERY PICTURES, a production company specialising in mystery genre content, 'Shrine' (tentative title), has confirmed Jaejoong and Gong Sung-ha as the lead actors.
Jaejoong and Gong Sung-ha will appear in the film 'Shrine', which will be cranked in March. 'Shrine' is an occult horror film in which three university students go to investigate an abandoned shrine in Kobe and disappear, and a shaman (Kim Jae-joong) and his university classmate (Gong Sung-ha) discover the identity of the evil spirits that haunt them.
The Shrine is the first Korean film directed by Kazuyoshi Kumakiri, winner of the Best Film, Best Actress and Best Screenplay awards at the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival for his '658km, The Journey of Yoko' and invited by the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival and the 27th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival for '#Manhole'. This is the first Korean film directed by director Kazuyoshi Kumakiri.
Jaejoong was cast as the lead character. Since his solo debut in Japan in 2018, Jaejoong has received a lot of love as a singer until now. He has also built up a diverse filmography, from the Japanese Fuji TV series 'I Can't Be Frank' to the South Korean dramas 'Protect the Boss', 'Dr. JIN', 'Triangle', 'Spy - The One Who Protects Love' and films such as 'Postman to Heaven' and 'Code Name: Jackal'.
In 'Shrine', Jaejoong unexpectedly receives a divine command and becomes a sophisticated, self-propelled shaman with an art college background. The dark hero charm that Jaejoong displays attracts a lot of attention.
As a breathing partner with Jae-joong, up-and-coming actor Gong Sung-ha has been cast. After his debut in the film 'Shortcut', Gong Sung-ha has captivated viewers with his role as Choi Yoon-ji in 'The Evil Mind Reader' and recently played anaesthesiologist Lee Hong-ran in the JTBC Saturday-Sunday drama 'Doctor Slump'. In 'Shrine', he gives an impassioned performance as a man who seeks help from his university classmate in Korea in order to solve a bizarre event that befalls him.
The film 'Shrine' will be shot in Kobe.
