Electric bike catches fire while charging in Shanghai, China... Battery illegally modified - Chinese report

In the early hours of the 9th, a fire suddenly broke out on an electric motorcycle that was being charged at a charging station installed on the grounds of an apartment building in Minhang District, Shanghai, China.
Twelve vehicles, including motorcycles and bicycles, were completely burned. No human injuries were reported. According to the police, the electric motorcycle that caught fire belonged to a resident of the apartment building, Mr. Lee.
The man purchased the electric bike knowing that it had been illegally modified. The bike's battery was originally a 48-volt lithium Eon battery, but was replaced with a 60-volt battery.
The police arrested Mr. Li for responsibility for the fire. He is currently under administrative detention.
They are also investigating the stores that modified and sold electric bikes, and will take disciplinary action based on the results of the investigation.
