South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues special travel warning for Iran... Recommends departure to safe areas
South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (equivalent to Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs) recently announced that it would issue a temporary special travel warning for Iran effective the 15th due to the worsening situation in the Middle East.
The Level 3 travel warning for some parts of Iran that had been issued so far will remain in effect, and special travel warnings will be issued for other areas as well.
The areas where Level 3 (departure recommendation) was issued are the Turkey-Iraq border area, Sistan-Baluchistan province, and three provinces along the Persian Gulf coast (Khuzestan, Bushehr, and Hormozgan).
The rest of Iran has been placed under Level 2.5 (special travel warning). In Israel, the Gaza Strip is under a Level 4 travel ban, and the rest of the country is under a Level 3 departure advisory.
The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "South Korean nationals who are planning to travel to Iran during the period of the special travel warning should cancel or postpone their trips, and South Korean nationals currently in the region should leave the country to a safe area unless it is for urgent business."
The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to closely monitor the situation in Iran and will continue to consider the need for additional adjustments to the travel warning.
