During a meeting with Chairman Greenberg, he called for increased investment by U.S. companies in South Korea.
Greenberg is chairman and CEO of Chubb Group, a major insurance company, and was appointed chairman of the 9th US-Korea Business Council in December last year. Since taking office, he has visited Korea.
This is the first time that Yoon has asked Greenberg about the matter.
Greenberg, former chairman of AIG, served in the Korean War and served in the 19th Army from 2003 to 2005.
He praised Greenberg's special ties with Korea, including his role as chairman of the US-Korea Business Council for the fourth time, and expressed his gratitude for his contributions to the development of US-Korea relations across generations.
He also emphasized that the support and contributions of the business communities of both countries are essential for the sustainable development of the ROK-U.S. alliance and the strengthening of economic cooperation, and called on the U.S.-Korea Business Council to support the activities of Korean companies in the United States.
Yoon introduced the Korean government's efforts to create the world's best investment environment and said, "I hope that more American companies will take an interest in investing in Korea."
"I am grateful for the kind and generous gestures shown by the South Korean government and people to Korean War veterans, including my father," Greenberg said.
"As chairman of the Korea-U.S. Security Council, I am proud to serve as a reliable ally in advancing bilateral relations," he said.
I am a free trader and fully support President Yoon's leadership in breaking down unnecessary regulations and promoting investment in cutting-edge fields to expand the global market.
"I support the Korean government," he added. "For decades, I have traveled back and forth between Korea and the US to conduct economic exchanges and have been watching Korea's astonishing economic development.
"Through this meeting, we will actively support mutual investment and cooperation between companies from both countries and play a necessary role in promoting the economic development of both countries and strengthening the U.S.-ROK alliance," he said.
