「娘を暴行し殺したのに街を歩いている」…SNS上で元恋人の身元が拡散=韓国
”He assaulted and killed my daughter, yet he's walking down the street”... Former boyfriend's identity goes viral on social media = Korea
"The assailant who killed my daughter has not been arrested and is still walking the streets," the mother of a 19-year-old female college student, A, who died on the way to a hospital after being assaulted by her former boyfriend, said in a statement on the 18th in Kyungnam.
The mother of Ms. A spoke at a press conference held by local civil society groups in Gyeongnam on the same day. She said, "For several years,
"When I think of my daughter lying in the mortuary, unable to find peace even after her death, after being murdered by the assailant who stalked, assaulted and tormented her, my heart is broken and I can't breathe," she said, weeping.
On the 1st of this month, Ms. A was living alone in Geoje City when her former boyfriend, Mr. B, broke into her apartment and assaulted her. She suffered a traumatic subdural hemorrhage.
He was diagnosed with a six-week recovery period and died on the 10th while undergoing hospital treatment. At the time, the police made an emergency arrest of Mr. B, but the prosecution refused to accept the arrest, citing the reason that "the emergency situation, which is the requirement for an emergency arrest, was not met."
The police are investigating the case at home because they did not approve the emergency arrest. The National Forensic Service provided the police with a verbal opinion that A's death was not caused by B's assault.
The results are expected to take up to three months. In addition, Ms. A was a high school classmate of Ms. B and went on to the same university and department, but between December 2022 and this incident, she had been involved in a total of 12 DV-related cases.
The police confirmed that a report had been received. During this process, it was reported that if Ms. A tried to defend herself against or stop Mr. B's assault, it would be considered "mutual assault."
A's mother said, "The investigative authorities are only protecting the perpetrator's human rights while the victims and their families are bleeding.
"I would like to ask the National Forensic Service, would someone who had no illness die of sepsis 10 days later without any symptoms? Could someone develop multiple organ failure as a result of violence?
Women's groups have argued that this case was a case of "stalking" and have called for strong punishment for the perpetrators.
The women's groups said, "B used violence on multiple occasions while dating A," and "A was unable to contact B.
Although he changed his phone number and social media accounts to avoid being identified, Mr. B was able to easily find Mr. A through his friends."
There has been an outrage against Mr B online, with his body and photos being circulated.
While the police will be investigating Mr. B and others regarding the exact circumstances of the incident, they also plan to investigate why Mr. A's family tried to transfer him to a nearby university hospital before his death but were refused.
