Cho Kuk, chairman of the Fatherland Reform Party, said on the 20th about the meeting between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Democratic Party chairman Lee Jae-myung, "The meeting I proposed was a success.
"I am happy that President Yoon and Representative Lee are meeting, even if it is quite delayed," Cho said in a statement on the same day.
"The summit between the ruling and opposition parties should not end up being merely a formality for taking photos. I hope it will become a forum for finding practical solutions to the severe economic and livelihood issues," Cho said.
He added, "Above all, I expect President Yoon to sincerely respond to the demands of the people that emerged during the general election, such as the bill to appoint Private First Class Choi and Mrs. Kim Geon-hee as special prosecutors."
On the 14th, Cho wrote on Facebook, "As the leader of the third largest party in the National Assembly, I hope to meet President Yoon at any time and in any form. I will be polite and firm in my decision to meet with him at a public meeting.
President Yoon and Representative Lee had a five-minute phone call at 3:30 pm on the 19th and agreed to meet at the Presidential Office in Yongsan next week.
