「加害者が来なければ死ななかった」…転落死した20代女性、遺族の訴え=韓国
”If the assailant hadn't come, she wouldn't have died” - Family of woman in her 20s who fell to her death in South Korea
The family of a woman in her 20s who fell to her death from an officetel in Busan is calling for severe punishment at the first hearing of her former boyfriend, who was indicted on charges of threatening and stalking the victim.
On the 1st of this month, Judge Bae Jinho of the Busan District Court held the first hearing of the trial for Defendant A (25), who was arrested and indicted on charges of violating the law on the punishment of intimidation, special intimidation, and stalking crimes.
According to the prosecution's indictment, on October 6th last year at around 5:03 a.m., defendant A visited his former lover B's residence and, enraged by the fact that she had broken up with him the previous day, said, "I'm going to commit suicide, I'm feeling guilty,
He also threatened B by sending her a message saying "Live with pride" and a photo of the suicide note. Also, on December 9th, he was angry because B had been drinking with another person, and he broke into the bathroom of B's residence.
At around 1:17 a.m. on the same day, the police, who had been called in by a neighbor, chased B out of his house, and he stayed in the area and kept knocking on the door and breaking the porch.
He is also suspected of stalking B by ringing her phone bell and sending her 365 messages. Defendant A continued to support B even though B had broken up with him several times between August and December.
It was revealed by the investigation that the suspect frequently visited B's residence and repeatedly engaged in violent behavior towards B, including breaking a wine glass to harm himself and throwing a chair.
B was killed at around 2:30 a.m. on January 7th this year, about one month after she said her final goodbye, when she fell from the ninth floor of an officetel in Busan.
The first witness to report the incident to the police was Defendant A, who was with B until the end. Defendant A stated that B had fallen from the 9th floor after arguing with him.
On that day, Defendant A admitted to most of the charges. However, Defendant A's lawyer said, "We admit the facts in relation to the charge of specific intimidation, but legally, we cannot accept the act of throwing the chair.
"We will fight it." The family repeatedly emphasized that B suffered from the violence and stalking of Defendant A, which led to her death. B's mother, who was present at the trial that day, said, "She had many dreams and
"My daughter, who was always there for me, died in vain just a few months before she was to study abroad," he said. "If defendant A had not gone to my daughter's house that day, there would have been no reason for her to die, but the defendant was only accused of stalking.
B's sister also said, "If there had been no assailant, my sister would not have been hanging from the window frame or fallen," and added, "My sister left this world in regret, but I hope she will never come back to this world again."
The perpetrators should be severely punished so that there will be no more victims like her." Presiding Judge Bae said, "Evidence has not yet been submitted, and the exact facts are unknown other than what is written in the indictment.
"We are not aware of the relevance of the incident in which a person died to the facts of the charges," the prosecution said, adding, "We would like the prosecution to clarify their opinion as to whether the death of the victim should be reflected in the sentence during the trial."
Meanwhile, the police plan to summon Defendant A in the near future to conduct further investigations in relation to B's death.
