The first episode of the JTBC drama "Not a Hero, But" (rating 3.3%) depicted the fateful yet suspicious first meeting between Gijoo (Jang Ki-young) and Dahee (Jung Woo-hee).
Manum (Ko Doo-shim) has lost his psychic powers and has never had a day of rest due to his dark family. His son Kui Joo, a "time traveler" who suffers from depression and cannot travel back in time to a happier time, Dong Hee (Soo Hyun), a "flight enthusiast" who is too heavy to fly, and his granddaughter Ina (Park So Yi), who is still unable to fly due to her physical disability. Ina (Park So-yi), the granddaughter, still shows no sign of regaining her ability. Manum's lament, "If we can't get back what we lost, the Pok family will end up here," hints at the crisis that has befallen their family for generations.
Just like Manum's dimly-lit prophetic dream, an unexpected "nobleman(?)" appeared in front of the Pok family, who could not see the future. appeared in front of them. Da Hye jumps into the sea without hesitation to save Gijoo from falling into the sea. Her relationship with the Pok family does not end here. They were destined to meet again at the spa massage parlor where Manum goes. Manum, an insomniac who had been unable to sleep no matter what methods she used, fell into a deep sleep after a single massage by Da Hye. As special as it was that she was the life saver who saved Giju, Dahee, wearing the Pok family ring, appeared in his prophetic dream, and Manum was convinced that she was the family's rescuer.
Thus, Manum takes special measures to keep both his depressed son and the Pok family alive in the crisis. He invites Da Hye to his house. However, Da Hye faces a wary gaze. It was actually the birthday of his daughter Ina and the anniversary of his wife Se-yeon's (Jeong Mina) death. Manum tried to make a new connection with his son, who was stuck in the past and unable to escape, but it didn't work out the way he wanted. He hurt Gi Joo, Ina, and everyone else with his words that his marriage to Se Yeon was a misplaced button from the start.
The party was over, but Da Hye couldn't walk away. Ina was worried that she was going to have a lonely birthday, so Da Hye made wakame seaweed soup, and Ina, who opened up a little at the sight of her, told her the secret of the Pok family, telling her to run away regardless of this house. Da Hye could only laugh at Ina's words that they were a psychic family.
A reversal beyond Da Hye's imagination was also revealed. The fact that Da Hye, whom Manum thought was her rescuer, was actually a member of the "Jjimjilbang Family," which had approached the Pok family for their fortune, came as a shock. Da Hye's two marriages were also a scam, orchestrated with Baek Il Hong (Kim Geum Sun), Grace (Ryu Abel), and Noh Hyun Tae (Choi Kwang Nok). Da Hye's true identity, which no one could have predicted, intersected with Manum's precognitive dream, and made us anticipate what was to come.
Above all, Da Hae's appearance, which began to shake Giju's heart, made him curious about their relationship. When Gijoo stopped in the past, Da Hye told him that she wanted that clock to start ticking again for the sake of her daughter Ina. But what came back was a mixture of self-mockery. He said, "Being part of a family is a promise to protect someone, but that I am not someone who can protect anyone." But Dahee's subsequent words shook Giju to the core. He said that in the past, he too was saved by someone who helped him, and that this person resembled Giju. Da Hye knew. On the day he fell into the sea, Gi-joo was not trying to die, but to protect a little girl's rabbit doll that had been washed away. 'That's the kind of person you are, isn't it, Giju? A person who saves someone so that they can live." These words resonated deep in Giju's heart.
On the other hand, the sad past that shattered Gijoo's present was also depicted. While Gi-joo was going to the past to save someone, the vehicle in which his wife and young Ina were riding overturned, and Gi-joo woke up in the passenger seat.
