Pastor in his 60s accused 24 parishioners of ”sexual crimes”... Also claims to have been ”victimized when underage”
A pastor in his 60s has been accused of committing sexual crimes against dozens of parishioners while he was serving as pastor at a church in Gunpo City, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 12th, the Uiwang Police Station in Gyeonggi Province filed charges against Kim (69) for non-consensual sexual intercourse and non-consensual indecent assault without detention.
Kim served as a pastor at a church in Gunpo for over 10 years until 2021, and is accused of sexually abusing many female members of the congregation.
Police began their investigation after eight women filed complaints last month alleging they had been sexually assaulted by Kim. Some of the women were sexually assaulted by Kim when they were minors.
It was revealed that she had stated that she had been sexually assaulted by a man who had been sexually assaulted by her. In addition, in August 2021, an agreement was drawn up with the assistance of a lawyer to pay a settlement to the victim of a sexual assault.
It was confirmed that the number of victims was listed as 24. The agreement included a clause that both parties must not disclose the facts of the victims and perpetrators, but recently Kim leaked the identities of some of the victims.
Kim was dismissed from the church after the sexual assault issue came to light, but it was revealed that he had been active in other churches until recently, and police have been investigating.
An official said, "We are currently sending a request for Kim to appear and are arranging the date for his summons. Once the specific charges are clarified, we plan to consider measures such as securing his custody."
