South Korean Foreign Minister calls for ”balanced diplomacy”...Chinese Foreign Minister calls for ”elimination of interference” = China-South Korea Foreign Ministers' Meeting

The Chinese and South Korean foreign ministers held talks for nearly four hours, marking the first step in enhancing bilateral relations. They agreed that while there are “differences in perspective” behind issues in bilateral relations, they should still “emphasize cooperation and development.”
On the afternoon of the 13th, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol said at the China-South Korea Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Beijing, China, "We will continue to strengthen our foreign relations.
"We do not view it as a zero-sum relationship, nor do we manage it that way," he said. This means that "we will strengthen U.S.-South Korea relations, but we will not neglect our relationship with China."
"As a democratic nation, we cooperate with other countries with a sense of balance on a case-by-case and field-by-field basis based on clear principles and standards," Cho said.
Cho and Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and foreign minister, shared the view that there are "constraints" in the bilateral relationship.
"The difficulties and challenges facing China-ROK relations are clearly increasing, which is not in the common interests of our two countries and is also not what China wishes," Wang Yi said.
"It is important to minimize the constraints on bilateral relations caused by changes in the geopolitical environment, focus on cooperation rather than conflict, and steadily accumulate results, starting with small things," Cho said.
"I believe that South Korea, together with China, will adhere to the original intention of establishing diplomatic relations between our two countries, the direction of good neighborliness and friendship, and the goal of mutual cooperation, and look at each other without interference, and we will work together to build a China-Korea relationship," Wang Yi said.
