South Korea's ruling party slams Moon Jae-in's memoir, saying he is ”still Kim Jong-un's 'chief spokesman'”
On the 18th, the ruling party of South Korea, the People Power Party, commented on the foreign and security policy memoir published by former President Moon Jae-in, "It still has the same meaning as the North Korean leader Kim Jung Eun's
Na Kyung-won, a lawmaker-elect from the ruling party, wrote on Facebook that she was "deeply saddened" and that "former President Moon is still acting as 'Kim Jong-un's representative.
"It seems that they are unable to escape the limitations of being a 'practical lawyer.' They are still using North Korea's typical sophistry to justify its nuclear development," he said.
"The leadership's naivety is a sign of serious incompetence and a major risk to the country," Na said.
He continued, "The 'security' that Kim Jong Un talks about is nothing more than 'thoroughly protecting the stability of the Kim family and the dictatorial regime.' So Kim Jong Un said,
"The word 'end of the war' ultimately means 'withdrawal of US troops from South Korea,'" he said, criticizing the idea that "we will listen to North Korea's demands and get it to abandon its nuclear program is an illusion."
Na said, "The right thing to do is to make them understand that they will gain nothing by threatening us with nuclear weapons. In the end, they will lose everything. That is the right strategy for North Korea."
"We must overcome our current view of North Korea," he said. Yoon Sang Hyun, a lawmaker from the ruling party, also said, "It's so tragic that it makes you wonder if it's the memoirs of a former South Korean president."
"Moon was the chief spokesman for Kim Jong Un," he continued, "He was the person who helped North Korea achieve complete nuclear armament, not complete denuclearization," he added, "In the end, it was General Secretary Kim who was the one who helped North Korea achieve complete nuclear armament."
"They were deceived and joined together to turn North Korea into a nuclear power in both name and reality."
