President Yoon is believed to have mentioned the Yahoo! Line issue first during the meeting, as it is a matter of public concern.
President Yoon commented on the Yahoo! Line issue, "(The Japanese government's administrative guidance) told Naver to 'sell its shares.'
"I understand that this is not a request to stop the spread of the virus, and I understand that this is a separate issue from Korea-Japan diplomatic relations," he said.
A senior official in the South Korean presidential office was quoted as saying, "We need to properly manage the situation." In response, Prime Minister Kishida said, "The (Japanese government's) administrative guidance is to 'impose restrictions on foreign companies, including South Korean companies.'
"This administrative guidance is based on the principle that there is no change to our previous position of 'continuing to promote investment in Japan by companies with similar characteristics.'"
"We have been communicating with the Japanese and Korean governments on this issue since the early stages," he said.
"We are cooperating with them while working closely together, and we plan to continue to communicate closely in the future," he said.
This is interpreted as a de facto denial of the view that the move is a "demand."
