The airline ordered five C919s in 2021, and an additional 100 aircraft in September 2023. The sixth aircraft received this time is the first of the additional 100 aircraft.
The C919 will begin commercial operation on May 28, 2023. By May 27 this year, China Eastern Airlines' five C919s will operate three routes between Shanghai Hongqiao and Chengdu Tianfu, Beijing Daxing, and Xi'an Xianyang.
A total of 2,181 flights were operated on these routes, with a total commercial flight time exceeding 6,000 hours and transporting approximately 300,000 passengers.
The operational and technical condition of the C919 is normal and it has a proven track record of safe flights.
Indicators such as the utilization rate of passengers have also been steadily improving, and the airline's overall operational capabilities have been fully verified. On June 1st of this year, a chartered C919 flight will be operated from Hong Kong to Shanghai.
The charter flight will carry Hong Kong university students attending a social event in Shanghai, marking the first time the C919 will be operated commercially outside mainland China.
