Former Director of South Korea's National Intelligence Service: ”Suspending the North-South military agreement is President Yoon's 'most mistaken policy'”

Park Ji-won, a former head of the National Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea, said of the South Korean government's decision to completely suspend the effectiveness of the inter-Korean military agreement, "Yoon Seok-yeol
"It's been more than two years since the president took office, and this is the most mistaken policy," he said. On the afternoon of the 4th, Rep. Park appeared on a South Korean radio program and said, "It is not possible to condemn North Korea through diplomatic pressure.
"It was possible, so I don't understand why President Yoon is trying to suspend it and essentially scrap it," he said.
Rep. Park said, "It has simply been suspended as of now, and President Yoon has declared that it has been 'abolished.'
"It is not a violation of the treaty, so we should revoke the suspension and make use of it while asking North Korea to comply. That is what I would like to say."
He continued, "In the international community, and above all in a place like the United Nations, it is unacceptable for North Korea to say, 'North Korea does not abide by the agreements and signatures it has made with its leaders.'"
"Why would President Yoon go so far as to suspend the treaty and essentially scrap it when the best way to do so is through diplomatic condemnation and pressure from the international community?" he said.
