”Food was stringy” - Dozens of people victimized by ”habitual refund couple” in South Korea
A couple in Yeongje-gu, Busan, South Korea, who had been habitually ordering food delivery services and then getting refunds because the food was "stringy," have been sued by the restaurant owner.
According to JTBC's "Case Leader" on the 11th, Mr. A, who worked as a restaurant employee in Yeonje-gu, Busan, reported that a customer had found strings in the food he had delivered.
The restaurant received a complaint from the customer, who said, "I found strings in my food." The restaurant confirmed the photos of the food and refunded the customer's bill. However, earlier this year, Mr. A, who opened his own restaurant, reported that he had found strings in his food again.
After refunding the food and drink bill, Mr. A suddenly remembered a refund he had received from another restaurant in the past.
The address was the same as that of a customer who had been in the store. In response, Mr. A told the self-employed community in March, "Because it's a new store, we're really managing it carefully. There's no way that thread would come out. No one else has had this done to them.
The owner of another restaurant in the same area responded, "I've been scammed twice, and other restaurant managers have said they've refunded twice," resulting in a total of 22 people posting comments through the community.
It was revealed that the owner of a store in the same building had been forced to make a refund using a similar method. In the end, Mr. A filed a lawsuit against the couple together with the victimized store owners.
Meanwhile, police have identified over 50 business owners who have been victimized by similar methods.
