On the 17th, Mayor Wu posted on Facebook, "After Chairman Lee called the media 'pets of the prosecution,' the first elected member of the Democratic Party of Korea called them 'mass trash.'
"They attacked the media with violent words such as 'I'm in a coma' and 'I'm in a seizure.' Media reporting on the investigation of the opposition leader is a freedom that must be guaranteed for the basic right of the people to know."
Mayor Wu said, "They say that this is a party that is centered around one person, Chairman Lee Jae-myung, but it is unthinkable that they would threaten the media, which is the eyes and ears of the people. I am against the Democratic Party's dangerous speech, along with Chairman Lee.
"When I look at this situation, I feel that the democracy of the Republic of Korea is in danger," he wrote. On the 14th, before appearing in his trial at the Seoul Central District Court on charges of violating the Public Offices Election Act, Lee met with reporters and spoke to the media.
"The prosecutors, an organ of state power, fabricate cases and, when false information is provided, they eagerly dictate and fabricate it, but when objective facts that contradict it come to light, they show no interest at all."
He continued, "Far from reporting the truth, they are being given information as if they were the prosecutors' pets, and are eagerly distorting and fabricating it."
