A man in his 30s who was sightseeing on Cheju Island was arrested by police on suspicion of sneaking into an adjacent hotel room and molesting a woman who was sleeping there.
On the 21st, the Jeju Seobu Police Station arrested a suspect in his 30s on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (trespass and forcible indecency).
The investigation is ongoing and an arrest warrant is planned to be applied for. Suspect A sneaked into a hotel room in Jeju City at around 2 a.m. on the same day and took the body of female tourist B, who was sleeping.
Suspect A was staying in the room next to B's, and when B and his party left the room to talk on the phone for a while, he took advantage of the door being open and committed the crime.
During the crime, Ms. B woke up and when their eyes met, suspect A fled, and Ms. B informed the group of the crime.
After a while, suspect A came to visit the victim, saying that there was a misunderstanding.
The suspect was arrested by the police. During questioning by the police, the suspect, A, denied the charges, saying, "I heard the voices of B and his group on the phone so loudly that I thought something had happened, so I just went into the guest room for a while."
Police are investigating whether the filming was illegal. Recently, a hotel front desk employee at a hotel on Jeju Island secretly opened the room of a Chinese female tourist using a master key and entered the room while drunk.
There have also been cases of men sexually assaulting women while they were sleeping.
