「金正恩バッジ」公式席上に初登場…偶像化に拍車か
”Kim Jong Un Badge” appears for the first time at the official venue... Will this spur idolization?
It has been revealed that North Korea is idolizing Kim Jong Eun. On June 30th, at an official event, officials were seen wearing badges with the portrait of the general secretary.
According to the Korean Central News Agency, on the second day of the 10th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on the 29th, all the officials who attended were wearing badges called "portrait badges."
The fact that the officials who attended the plenary session, the highest level in North Korea, wore Kim's badges is a sign that the idolization of the Kim Jong-un regime has been further strengthened since more than 10 years have passed since the start of the regime.
The photo of the badge was published not only by the Korean Central News Agency, an international media outlet, but also in the Rodong Sinmun, the Workers' Party's newspaper, which is read by North Korean residents.
Kim's badge was made in 2012 after the death of his father, Kim Jong-il, and this is the first time it has been seen worn in the country.
The portrait badge is an icon symbolizing the Kim family and worn by everyone from ordinary citizens to the highest echelons.
In the 2000s, the general public also began to wear them. The portrait badge of his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, was proposed by Kim Jong Il at the 5th Congress of the Workers' Party in November 1970, and was made and distributed in earnest.
The portrait badge of Kim Jong-il began production at Mansudae Art Studio on February 16, 1992, which would have been his 50th birthday.
Meanwhile, in North Korea, the name of Kim Il-sung's birthday was recently changed from "Day of the Sun" to "4.15."
Last month, North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un attended the completion ceremony for the Workers' Party Central Cadre School in the Kumsusan area of Pyongyang. Portraits of his father and grandparents were displayed on the exterior wall of the Revolutionary History Museum inside the school.
The paper published a photo of Kim's portrait next to the painting.
