A vehicle ran into a sidewalk near City Hall Station in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea, resulting in a major accident with 13 deaths and injuries. Security camera footage from near the accident site showed the vehicle running into citizens.
In the video of the accident released by JTBC on the 2nd, passersby were talking on the sidewalk in front of a restaurant at an intersection near City Hall Station.
At this time, the light of a car was seen in the distance, and a vehicle came running at such high speed that people had no time to escape and crashed into the sidewalk.
JTBC explained, "The car came flying onto the sidewalk," and "A roar was heard that made everyone in the restaurant just around the corner stand up at once."
The impact sent a motorcycle parked on the sidewalk flying several meters. Plastic boxes stacked in front of the store collapsed, and the garbage that separated the road from the sidewalk fell on the road.
According to police and fire officials, a Genesis vehicle crashed into a sidewalk at an intersection near Seoul City Hall Station at around 9:27 p.m. the previous day, nine pedestrians were killed and four injured, according to police and fire officials.
The driver of the car that caused the accident, Mr. A (68), was driving the wrong way down a four-lane one-way road, colliding with two cars in succession, and then crashing into pedestrians on the sidewalk and at a crosswalk.
