Digitalization expands delivery area and sales at Taoma Grand Market in Daejeon, South Korea
Doma-kung Market, which was established in the early 1970s in Doma-dong, Daejeon, was established as a place for workers in nearby factories to do their shopping on their way home.
This is currently the largest market in the city, and has three large parking lots. Recently, the market has been concerned about stagnating sales and consumption due to the elderly consumer base.
Delivery was made to nearby areas through Naver's market platform, and nationwide through the online shopping mall Onnuri Traditional Market.
The company has built a distribution center in the parking lot and has a manager to handle orders. In the four months since it began nationwide delivery service, the number of orders has increased by 2.
The number of cases approached 477. In response to the favorable situation, the market is expanding its platform, delivery area, and sales to "Naver," "Coupan Eats," "Delivery Nation," and other companies.
The market also conducts crowdfunding. The brand has six values, including collaborative product development and a market trip you can enjoy at home.
"Since the Onnuri Traditional Market started operating, sales have increased in a short period of time, and more stores are participating," said Shim Bo-seong, chairman of the market's merchants' association.
"We aim to have 200 online stores by 2024."
