A public opinion poll has concluded that, among the four candidates running for the leadership of the ruling People Power Party, former emergency response chief Han Dong-hoon's favorability rating far surpassed that of the other candidates.
The results were announced on the 12th. The survey was conducted by the Korean polling organization "Gallup Korea" from the 9th to the 11th of this month among 1,002 voters, and the results showed that "of the four candidates in the ruling party leadership election, who is the most likely to become the leader?"
When asked, "Who is the most suitable candidate for the position?" 36% answered, "Former Chairman Han." This is an 8% increase from the survey conducted two weeks ago.
Next was Rep. Na Kyung-won with 17%, followed by former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong with 17%.
The Minister of Tongil received 10% of the votes, Yoon Sang Hyun 7% and 29% reserved their opinion. Candidate Han's favorability rating is now overwhelmingly higher than the combined favorability ratings of the other three candidates.
The disparity in favorability ratings among 347 ruling party supporters and 566 independents was even larger, with Han receiving 45%, Na receiving 15%, Won receiving 12%, and Yoon receiving 3%.
