Han Dong-hoon, the ruling party's candidate for the presidency (former emergency response committee chairman), visited Daegu on the 12th and spoke about the investigation into former President Park Geun-hye, "very regrettable."
Candidate Han said at a gathering of local mid-career journalists held at Daegu Art Park in Nam-gu, Daegu on the same day.
At the policy discussion at the Asia Forum 21, he told former President Park Geun-hye, "I investigated it in my capacity as a prosecutor."
He continued, "I am very sorry. I have met President Park Geun-hye, and he told me how to treat an injury, and I was wrapped in seaweed in the car.
"He shared his experiences with me, such as how I should eat, and he was concerned about me," he said. Prior to this, Han visited Daegu two weeks before the April 10 general election.
Candidate Han and President Park had a 30-minute conversation. Based on the comments of the participants at the time, President Park said, "We will hold thorough discussions between the party and the government and win the election.
It is not good for the people to see frequent confrontations. The economy is in a difficult situation and the country is in a very difficult situation, so it is precisely at times like these that the ruling party must support and help the president.
On that day, Candidate Han expressed regret that he was unable to meet with Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo and North Gyeongsang Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo during the party convention.
Regarding this, he said, "The position of the group leader is not that important in the party election, but I wanted to meet him." He added, "Governor Lee Cheol-woo is not like that, but (Mayor Hong Joon-pyo) is very excessive.
