Two 12-year-old elementary school students abused a friend's pet cat, causing it to die. On the 16th, Animal Freedom Coalition reported the abuse incident that took place in Daejeon through their official SNS.
According to the group, A and B broke into the home of their friend C without permission and abused C's pet cat. The two had previously known the password to C's home and had broken into it without permission.
On the day of the incident, the two took turns kicking the kitten with their feet, sitting on it, and flicking its forehead with their fingertips, leading to its death, the group said.
The parent of C, who brought the issue to light, said, "One day I came home earlier than usual and when I entered the house, I found two children I had never seen before. They were in the room together before I left the house.
"The cat, which had been in a good mood, was lying there with its tongue out," the group said. "The parents of the victim's family withdrew their complaint after receiving an apology from the parents of the student who had committed the crime," the group said.
"It is extremely regrettable that the cruel crime committed by a child perpetrator was dealt with so carelessly," he said. "Korean society has yet to even take special measures against animal abuse crimes committed by minors."
"We want to let the public know that these types of criminal animal abuse acts committed by children are at a serious level," he said.
