Han Dong-hoon, the ruling People Power party's candidate for party leadership, who is running at the party convention on July 23, said on the 17th, "We will definitely win against the huge opposition party's legislative monopoly."
Candidate Han attended the Seoul-Incheon-Gyeonggi-Gangwon Regional Joint Conference held in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province that afternoon.
He attended the rally and said, "Together with all the politicians, officials and members of our party, we will become a storm and become birds flying together in a flock through the storm."
He added, "We showed a disappointing image in the last general election," and emphasized, "The all-party conference will be the start of another change."
Candidate Han said, "The candidates we put up in the last general election were more capable, honest and upstanding than the Democratic Party. However, it was difficult to know the candidates and our policies properly.
"We will win the 2026 local elections, the 2027 presidential election, and the 2028 general election. We are not like the unipolar Democratic Party.
"We have a proud tradition of gathering will and strength and coordinating opinions through democratic debate and fierce competition," he added.
This will be the last joint speech meeting following those in Seoul, Gyeongsangnam-do, Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Chungcheong-do.
At the Chungcheong Province Joint Speech Meeting held in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, violence broke out between supporters during Han's speech.
