"Happy Country," a film about the trial of a presidential assassination in 1979, has released stills depicting the tense showdown between the defense team and military prosecutors.
"Happy Country" is a story about Park Tae-joo (the late Lee Seong Kyu (INFINITE)), who was involved in the assassination of the president on the orders of his superior officer on October 26, 1979.
The film tells the story of lawyer Jeong In-hoo (played by Cho Jung Seok), who becomes South Korea's worst political trial as his defense lawyer.
Stills, which was released on the 25th, is attracting attention for its unpredictable tension.
First of all, the passionate defense team is drawing attention for not only the trial but also for standing up to the times amid the historical turmoil that has shaken the Republic of Korea. They have been defending those involved in the October 26 Presidential assassination.
He takes on the role of the defense team leader, Lee Man-sik (played by Woo Hyun), who is determined to fight the assassination of the president.
He is the one who tries to save the people involved in the case and leads the defense team. Jung In-hoo is the only soldier among the defense team members, so he was the one who was tried in a single trial for Park Tae-soo.
He takes on the defense of Joo and fights alone. Through Jung In-hoo's anguish, we can see that even though he puts all his effort into the trial, he faces the unfair limitations of the times.
Jo Sang-cheol (played by Lee Hyun-gyun), who brought Jung In-hoo to the 10.26 trial, and Boo Han-myung (played by Jung Bae-soo) and Choi Young-nam, who are on trial with Jung In-hoo, are also involved.
Through the various portrayals of the defense team, Baek Seung-gi (played by Choi Jong-il), a military prosecutor, and the defense team, who stand up against the authorities, are shown in various roles.
In the resolute and sharp appearance of the 1990s police chief, Won Young, we can see his determination to prove Park Tae Joo's guilt at all costs. In the end, he is given a secret memo from a powerful man and is forced to give his sentence at his command.
