Shocking: Hidden camera found in toilet at home...culprit unidentified = South Korea
In South Korea, a hidden camera was found in a toilet in a house. The police investigated, but were unable to identify the culprit, and the case remains unsolved.
On the 25th, Mr. A posted a video and text on Instagram titled, "Why it's been hard to post a daily feed recently."
According to Mr. A, three months ago when he returned home with his younger brother and his wife about three hours earlier than usual, he discovered a hidden camera installed in the gap between the toilet bowl.
At the time, Mr. A lifted the toilet cover to check if the toilet was clean before his brother and sister-in-law came to visit, but a red light flashed in the gap between the cover.
The man discovered a black rectangular camera pointing toward the shower stall.
A said, "My husband cleans every morning, but he wasn't there that time, so I went out.
"I definitely think someone came in when I was there," he said. "I went to exercise in the morning and was away for about an hour, then I came home, took a shower, and arrived to work, but I couldn't confirm exactly when they came in."
"After the perpetrator left the camera behind, he tried to retrieve it before I returned home, but I returned home earlier than usual and my younger brother and his wife were with me, so he was unable to retrieve it," she continued.
"It appears that he was in the apartment building," he speculated. In the end, the police investigation was difficult. There were no security cameras on the same floor of the apartment building where Mr. A lived, so they were unable to confirm anyone entering or leaving the building.
The case went unsolved. The camera was made of a material that did not easily leave fingerprints, and damage to the memory chip made recovery impossible.
Mr. A said, "Even the police were surprised at how many suspicious points there were, making it a difficult case to investigate."
"I received a letter informing me that the case was unsolved due to a lack of clues. It was a white-collar crime, so it wasn't easy to find clues," he explained.
He continued, "The perpetrator entered the front door's PIN code and gained entry.
It's possible that they installed a camera near the (front door) to check the number."
"I never knew there was such a space under the washlet. It seems like this is a habitual offender," he said. "It was quite painful to think that my home was not a safe space.
We wanted to spread the word about this incident in the hope that something like this won't happen again."
