A man in his 20s who killed 78 cats for ”damaging a car” receives a prison sentence in South Korea

A man in his 20s who brutally killed dozens of cats for "scratching a car" was given a prison sentence in the appeal court. Changwon District Court, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea
On the 26th, it was revealed that in the appeal hearing against A, who was indicted on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act and given a sentence of eight months' imprisonment and one year and two months' imprisonment in the first trial, the court had sentenced him to one year and four months' imprisonment.
Defendant A was indicted on charges of killing 78 cats on a total of 55 occasions in Gimhae, Busan and Daegu in South Gyeongsang Province between December 2022 and September last year.
Defendant A had a dislike for cats because "cats scratched my parked car." In addition, his mental illness caused problems with interpersonal relationships and job hunting.
This lack of support caused stress, which led him to commit the crime described above.
