IOC officially announces that North Korean athletes have not received Samsung smartphones

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said, "North Korean athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics will receive smartphones from Samsung Electronics, an official sponsor of the Olympics.

The South Korean government, on the other hand, said, "The UN Security Council, in accordance with Resolution 2397, Clause 7, has banned the import and export of any commercial machinery and equipment from North Korea.
The government prohibits the import, sale, and transfer of smartphones, which are prohibited items under the resolution. However, if the players had not brought smartphones into North Korea, it would not have been a violation of the resolution.
However, it has not been confirmed whether the North Korean team actually received smartphones in the athletes' village, or whether they received them but returned them.
During the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, the Olympic Organizing Committee, concerned about violations of sanctions against North Korea, required North Korean athletes to return their Samsung Electronics smartphones before returning home.
However, North Korea refused to accept the items.
