Police investigating man vomits after drinking carbonated drink in subway station office - South Korea
Police have launched an investigation after an Incheon Metropolitan Transportation Corporation employee showed symptoms including vomiting after drinking a carbonated drink stored in a refrigerator in an office at a subway station in Incheon, South Korea.
According to the Incheon Southeast Police Station on the 12th, around 5 a.m. the previous day, a man named A, an Incheon Transportation Corporation employee working at Incheon City Hall Station in Namdong-gu, Incheon, was arrested.
Two men in their 20s and 30s showed abnormal symptoms, including vomiting. It was understood that Mr. A and his friends showed the symptoms after drinking carbonated drinks stored in a shared refrigerator in the station office.
The employee B, who had also tried the drink, also received treatment at a hospital, according to an investigation. The refrigerator in question was used by station staff for their personal use and to store food, drink, and other lost property found on the subway.
During the police investigation, Mr. B stated, "I don't remember if the plastic bottle containing the carbonated drink was opened or not."
Police were dispatched after receiving a report from the Incheon Transportation Corporation, collected the carbonated drink in question, and requested a detailed examination by the National Forensic Service.
The employee who showed symptoms of vomiting has recovered after receiving treatment and is expected to be discharged from the hospital. Police plan to investigate the cause from multiple angles, including the possibility that someone may have put a foreign object in the employee's drink.
