On the 13th, Yonhap News TV's News Review independently reported surveillance camera footage of 'BTS' member SUGA driving on a footpath while intoxicated.
In the newly released surveillance footage, SUGA was riding on a pavement on an electric scooter; SUGA hit a kerb and fell over, and was discovered by police riot police who were patrolling nearby.
SUGA was measured for intoxication at the scene and was intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of 0.227%. A blood alcohol level of more than 0.2% is subject to aggravated punishment.
Following the release of the surveillance footage, the debate over SUGA's drunk driving became heated online. His office explained that he fell over while parking his electric scooter in front of his house, but the footage showed him falling on the pavement.
It was also discovered that he was driving his electric scooter on the footpath in a drunken state, an extremely dangerous situation. When it was revealed that SUGA had driven his electric scooter on the pavement and fallen over, many netizens questioned whether he had lied again.
SUGA was caught driving drunk on a street in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at around 11:10pm on the 6th. Initially, SUGA's side clarified its position that he was found by the police near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in a state where he had fallen over on his electric scooter.
SUGA's licence was subsequently revoked, and although SUGA apologised for this, their agency Big Hit Music is in a difficult situation, with allegations that they may have tried to deflate the situation. There has been an explanation for this, but distrust of SUGA is also growing.
Surveillance footage of SUGA driving on the pavement has been released, and attention is now focused on whether SUGA's side will clarify its position on this again.
SUGA is currently arranging a date with the police for a subpoena investigation.
