JTBC's ”Newsroom” deletes security camera footage of ”BTS” SUGA
It has been revealed that JTBC has deleted the surveillance camera footage related to the drunk driving false report involving BTS's SUGA (31, Min Yoongi).
On the 14th, JTBC's "Newsroom" released the security camera footage that had previously shown Suga driving an electric scooter while drunk.
The video was made private or deleted. On the 7th, Newsroom released security camera footage showing Suga speeding down the road on an electric scooter instead of an electric kickboard, crashing into a curb.
Initially, Suga stated that he had "fallen in front of the main gate of his house," but after the security camera footage from the Newsroom was released, criticism was leveled.
However, it was confirmed that the person in the video was not SUGA. On the 14th, Money Today obtained security camera footage of a drunk SUGA using an electric scooter.
The footage showed Suga falling over while riding a scooter and being apprehended by the police. The direction of travel was opposite to that shown in the video released by JTBC, and the shape of the scooter Suga was riding was also different.
JTBC has deleted the security camera footage in question and replaced the problematic portion of the show with another image on its homepage's catch-up stream. JTBC has made the following statement regarding the matter:
According to the movement patterns released by the police, Suga was eating and drinking with acquaintances at a restaurant near Hannam Five-Way Intersection at 9 p.m. on the 6th, and then moved to his personal studio nearby.
He continued drinking. Afterwards, he returned home on his electric scooter from his studio, which was about 500 meters away from his house. At around 11:10 pm, he was hit by an electric scooter on the sidewalk near Nine One Hannam in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Suga then passed by three riot police officers who were on patrol on a scooter. Suga then lost his balance while turning left to enter the main gate of his Nine One Hannam residence.
When police officers saw this and approached Suga on foot to help him, they reportedly noticed an odor of alcohol coming from him and decided to administer a breathalyzer test.
At the time, Suga's blood alcohol level was 0.227%, well above the standard for license revocation (0.08% or higher).
Under the Motor Vehicle Management Act, it is classified as a "motorized bicycle." Under the Road Traffic Act, it is considered a car, so driving while under the influence of alcohol is a criminal offense.
The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul plans to summon Suga for an investigation in the near future. Suga has been serving as a public service officer since September last year.
He is currently serving in the alternative military service and is scheduled to be discharged in June next year.
