The video was uploaded by a citizen named A. A said, "On the 14th, I was walking through Peace Square in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province when I saw an elderly man and a young man.
"I witnessed what looked like a quarrel," he said. However, when Mr. A approached them and talked to them, he discovered that the elderly and young people were not fighting, but were attending a fundraising event.
A said, "The elderly man was a former war veteran who was collecting donations to support his war comrades when an active-duty army captain found him.
"A young man approached me and donated all the cash he had," he said. The army captain told the elderly man, "I don't have much cash right now," and asked him to give more money if he would give his account number.
A, who was watching the scene, said, "I thought it was wonderful to see an active-duty soldier showing respect to an elderly former soldier," and added, "I want many people to see this video."
The video posted by Mr. A shows the army captain politely asking an elderly person sitting on a circular bench in a downtown area for their account number.
When the elderly man then stood up and asked to shake hands, the captain politely bowed 90 degrees to greet him, and the elderly man shook his hand.
