SUGA(BTS)、本日(23日)代替服務の退勤後に警察へ出頭か
SUGA (BTS) to turn himself in to police after completing alternative service today (23rd)
It has been learned that BTS member SUGA (real name Min Yoongi, 31), who is suspected of drunk driving an electric scooter, will turn himself in to the police today (23rd).
According to the police, Suga, who was charged with drunk driving, is expected to turn himself in to Seoul Yongsan Police Station after leaving his workplace as a social service officer that afternoon.
On the 22nd, there were reports that Suga would turn himself in to the police, but since it was revealed that this was not true, attention is focused on whether Suga will turn himself in today.
On the 6th, SUGA was found by police while drunk and riding an electric scooter near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and was found collapsed.
At the time of his drunk driving arrest, Suga's blood alcohol level was 0.227%, far above the 0.08% limit for license revocation.
At the time, the management office and Suga were wearing helmets and using an electric scooter to travel about 500 meters before collapsing when parking and being tested for alcohol by police nearby.
As a result, he was fined and his license was revoked. In particular, he noted that no damage was done to people or facilities in the accident.
Police said that the vehicle Suga was riding was not a personal mobility device, meaning a typical electric scooter.
The management office and Suga are not trying to downplay the case, as they have made it clear that it was an electric scooter and no follow-up measures such as fines or license revocation have been taken.
Suga said, "After drinking at a dinner party, I rode an electric scooter home. I thought it was a short distance and that it was not appropriate to ride an electric scooter when drunk.
He did not realize that the electric scooter was prohibited from being used in the street, and violated the road traffic laws. He fell over while setting up the electric scooter at the front gate of his house, and there were police officers nearby. He was given a breathalyzer test and was found not to be drunk.
"The license was revoked and a fine was imposed," he said. "No one was harmed or anything damaged in this incident, but I have no excuses and it is my responsibility, so I would like to apologize to everyone."
I bow my head and offer my apologies. I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my careless and mistaken actions, and I will be more careful with my actions in the future to ensure that this kind of thing doesn't happen again."
Suga is currently serving as a social service officer.
