Arrow hits car waiting at traffic light... penetrates car door 11cm (South Korea)
An archery arrow suddenly flew into a car waiting at a traffic light at an intersection in downtown Seoul, piercing it. According to a report by MBN on the 31st, the incident occurred in June in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
An archery arrow was fired at a car waiting at a traffic light at an intersection. It was discovered that the arrow was accidentally fired from the archery practice area of Korea National Sport University near the main road and flew all the way to the intersection.
An arrow was fired from a compound bow, a type of mechanical bow, and the arrow flew from 100 meters away, piercing the driver's door 11 centimeters deep.
An official from Korea National Sport University explained, "The regulator broke and malfunctioned, causing the arrow to fly outside the archery range."
Students at Korea National Sport University practice on the open rooftop, firing more than 10,000 rounds a day.
Nearby merchants have expressed concern. However, even now, two months after the accident, the ceiling of the archery range remains
The university has not taken measures such as covering the stadium or raising the safety fence. A representative from Korea National Sport University said, "We plan to take necessary measures such as reinforcing the safety fence."
Prior to this, a similar accident occurred in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province in 2020.
An accident occurred at the archery range behind the building, where a bullet pierced the door of an SUV about 100 meters away. Fortunately, no one was in the car, so no casualties were reported.
Residents living near the archery training range are worried, but because there are no specific regulations for the facility to prevent safety accidents, there is no way to punish the facility even if it is not reinforced immediately.
There are also voices calling for it to be removed.
