Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who is visiting South Korea, emphasized the importance of exchanges between the two countries to Japanese and Korean students at Seoul National University on the 7th. According to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NHK, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held a press conference in Seoul on the morning of the same day.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited Seoul National University and held a meeting with current Japanese and Korean students. "I am pleased to have had the opportunity to exchange views with students who will lead the next generation at Seoul National University, one of the universities with the most active exchanges between Japan and Korea," he said.
"The lessons I have learned and the bonds I have made through Japan-Korea exchanges will be a source of nourishment for me and will also be the foundation for future Japan-Korea relations," he said. After visiting Seoul National University, he returned to Japan on a special flight.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who is due to step down at the end of September, visited South Korea on September 6 and met with President Yoon Seok-yeol. During the meeting, the leaders of Japan and South Korea agreed to normalize diplomatic relations between the two countries.
With the 60th anniversary approaching in 2025, the leaders of Japan and South Korea reaffirmed their intention to continue improving Japan-South Korea relations. In addition, the leaders of Japan and South Korea agreed to cooperate with each other in the evacuation and withdrawal of their nationals in the event of a crisis in a third country.
The two countries have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in protecting Korean nationals residing overseas, and have simplified immigration procedures by introducing a pre-immigration inspection system that allows Koreans to undergo Japanese immigration inspections at Korean airports in advance.
The two leaders also agreed to actively explore ways to strengthen trilateral cooperation among Japan, the United States and South Korea to respond to regional threats, such as North Korean provocations and building closer ties with Russia.
After the meeting, the two leaders moved to the main building of the presidential palace for a two-hour dinner attended by the leaders and their spouses.
I found out that he also went there.
